LaserSetting up my design in the UCP
I had to change the power of the laser, because grip tape is a stronger material.

A Lot of Gluing and ClampingThe veneer started to warp, and I realized using only the weights wasn't going to work.
I made sure to use a bunch of clamps, to make my board kind of straight.

Wood shop Work
Printed out my long board design and taped it to the board.
After cutting out my long board, I had to reapply glue in-between the pieces of veneer.
I over-applied glue, so I had a lot of sanding that needed to be done.

I was going to cut out my long board on the band saw but I realized the jig saw was a much better option.
Re-gluing and clamping my long board.
I then routed my long board to achieve that nice curved look. After I routed the long board, I hand sanded the edges down.

Next I applied a semi-gloss finish to my long board.
Final Assembly
After the finish had dried, I started to apply my decals.
Next I applied my grip tape.
Then I calculated where the holes had to be, so that the trucks can secure properly.
Summary
Last year I really enjoyed the class Idea. I really enjoyed the thought of being able to think of something and create with your own two hands. I kept that thought process of being able to create anything and I took it upon myself to create a long board. I really wanted to push my limits in Big Idea and get out of my comfort zone.
Overall, this class made me realize so much about life. Overcoming obstacles, don't ever give up, and get out of your comfort zone. I also feel like its made me stronger as an individual. Mr. Willauer was never constantly on anyone about not working. There is a lesson to that.. Oh you bet I didn't realize the lesson until the end of the semester. Big Idea is not just about being creative and creating things, but it is also about responsibility and time management. All in all, this class is a excellent class to take and I highly recommend taking the course. If I could, I definitely would take this class again, but I would certainly come in with a different mindset and think through the projects more thoroughly. I am a huge procrastinator and this class kind of reflects the real world. If I want to be successful, I have to meet the correct deadlines.
To be completely honest, I am in love with my long board. I'll be honest, I put mostly all my time into the darn thing. I was so focused on creating it, that I fell behind in Arduino, the designer notebook, and all the websites. Although I do wish I still had more time to make it absolutely perfect. Now that the long board has been finished, I tend to think about it's imperfections a lot. But the imperfections are a reminder that not everything has to be perfect to be awesome. In conclusion, I am very proud of the person that this class has shaped me into, and I am very proud of my achievements in Big Idea.
